Facilities
TOOL ROOM
We are confident to say that we have one of the most
complete and versatile tool rooms in
The State of South Carolina. Our capabilities
include, but are not limited to the following:
* * Machined parts
per print or samples
* * Jigs and Fixtures
* * Gauges with
in-house Certification from our Quality dept.
* * Die repairs and/
or manufacturing, small or large, assisted by our 7-1/2 ton
and two 15 ton overhead cranes
* *
Special machine manufacturing
or refurbishing
* * Automation and
Integration
All of our products mentioned above are enhanced by
the following services, although they are also
Offered on a stand-alone basis:
* * Experienced
Toolmakers, apprentices and Machinists, both day & night shift
* * Trucks for
pick-up and delivery as required
* * In-house heat
treat
* * In-house welding
* * In-house Design
dept.
* * In-house Qualtiy
dept.
We invite all types of inquiries and requests for
quotations. We stand behind our products and our quality, and pride
ourselves in being the best solution to your manufacturing needs.
CNC DEPARTMENT
Our CNC department is made up of a select group of
machinery coupled with well-trained personnel. The department consists
of machining centers, turning centers, wire EDM machines, a turret press
and an array of off-line secondary equipment. All programming is
accomplished by our CAM package, “Surfcam
Velocity 4”. Programming is loaded via
“Cimmco “ DNC software. This
software has the capability to drip-feed (64) machines at the same time.
American Tool & Die also has 3-D machining capability
via the “Surfcam Velocity 4”
software. This software package allows us to program 3-D shapes such as
molds, form dies, etc. All of our computer hardware is networked so the
data transfer is much faster. We are also tied into a coordinate
measuring machine, where we can take any 3-D shape, digitize it into
points, down load to our CAD package and create intricate surface
models. We then use Surfcam
Velocity 4”to create G-code cutter paths, which are then stored on
the server.
Once on the server the
“Cimmco” package sends the g-code to the CNC machines to duplicate
the digitized component.
We have a complete quality department whose duties
include receiving materials and Final Inspection. We are “ISO 9001:2008”
certified.
Receiving Inspection
A running log is maintained of all purchased material
that requires traceability and their certifications maintained. This
material must be verified prior to manufacturing to ensure correct sizes
and type of material. This information is logged for tracking purposes.
Final Inspection
Samplings of parts are pulled for inspection per
customer requirements or 2.5 AQL. Parts are inspected visually for
burrs, cracks, slug marks, etc. Actual inspection of all relevant
dimensions is per blueprint and customer’s requirements.
Calibration
All equipment used for final acceptance of product is
calibrated to
national or international
standards. ATD keeps a master QC equipment list, which assigns
each piece of equipment an identification number, which is used on all
calibration records. The list allows the inspection personnel to
maintain rigorous schedules on keeping the calibration equipment in
calibration. A calibration control card is issued for each piece of
equipment, as well as an individual decal on each piece of equipment.
PRESS ROOM and FABRICATION DEPARTMENT
We have presses that range from
12
tons to
600 tons.
Our sister company, EMR Inc., has additional capability up to
1,000 tons. Although we
have many high-volume production parts, we specialize in short-run
stamping projects. We have developed a process for low-volume stamping
that enables us to keep costs down, and efficiencies high.
We maintain a die storage area of approximately
2800 square feet.
Our support area for secondary operations consists of manual Diacro
presses, drill presses, manual notchers, shears, brake presses,
multi-spindle drill presses, rotary and vibratory deburring equipment,
and various heat treat ovens.
We are also experienced with assembly, sub-assembly,
soldering, brazing, spot-welding, production welding, and we have
experience with all types of various materials.
Our fully equipped tool room supports our fabrication department
for emergency repairs or any required fabrication of tooling. Our design
department is available for any required flat blank layouts, engineering
changes or development issues.
DESIGN DEPARTMENT
Our Design department has CAD designers available to
work directly with our customers, analyzing their requirements,
presenting a concept, and able to provide a complete turn-key project
based on the customer’s needs.
ATD has full CAD/CAM design capability utilizing
“Solidworks 2010”,
“Autocad 2010”
and
“Surfcam Velocity 4”
as our design
software. All of our CAD systems are networked to our CNC, QC and
Manufacturing Departments.
Whether the designing is for our own in-house needs
or as a service to our clients, we are confident of the product and
service we provide.
